Hibiscus tea, by various names, is enjoyed in Asia, throughout Africa and in the Caribbean where it is blended with various spices and even a little rum (Jamaica). In Egypt street vendors and open air cafes serve this very popular drink, named Karkade, and even toast with a glass at wedding celebrations. I personally got hooked on Karkade while strolling through the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar in Cairo, Egypt many years ago.
